The Power Rangers have a peel-off face mask and I tried it

If you have been following me on Revelist or at any of my social media pages you might have noticed that I am a bit of a beauty enthusiast. I love to try new products and see if they are worth the hype.

I was walking down the isles of Sephora in search of the next product I would test out. I came across this bright green and gold face mask.

GravityMud Firming Treatment Power Rangers by Glamglow, $34.

I later realized it was a Power Rangers Glamglow collection.

giphy (10).gif

I didn’t think twice before buying both. I was a huge fan of the Power Rangers and it made me happy to be able to include it into my beauty routine.

The peel-off face mask was inspired by Rita Rupulsa and Goldar.

IMG_1686.jpgBoth masks treat fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, loss of firmness and elasticity.

I pulled a flat bristle brush out and squirted a generous amount.gif 2.gifWhen I opened the bottle it released an amazing sweet smell.

I applied half of the green mask on the left side of my face. IMG_1691.JPG

And the gold mask on the other half.IMG_1694

The instructions recommend waiting 20-30 minutes before peeling off once it was look.gifIt’s Morphin Time!

I had to wait almost an hour and a half before it was ready to be peeled off. Screen Shot 2017-10-15 at 6.45.50 PM.png

I had never tried Glamglow’s peel-off face mask and was worried it was a bad idea for my rosacea.

giphy (12).gif

If the Power Rangers taught me anything it was to face my problems face-on. peel off.gifI channeled my inner Power Ranger and peeled it off at once.

To my surprise, the pain was minimum.giphy (9).gif

I softly picked off the leftover residue and applied some moisturizer.endThe peel-off didn’t irritate my skin and even reduced the redness. What the what?!

Final thoughts: I’m your typical millennial and love anything that reminds me of my childhood so this Power Rangers Glamglow Gravitymud face mask was right up my alley.

The face mask smelled so sweet but I was worried it would irritate my skin. To my surprise, it actually brought down the redness. However, it didn’t give me the firm feel it claimed to do. The mask was soft enough for my skin so I would totally recommend this to any sensitive person like me.

So go and get it before Rita gets her hands on it! giphy (11)

I wore the most unflattering outfit for my body type

Dressing plus-size women has never been about fashion but on how to hide our bodies. We were told to wear clothes that were flattering, not fashionable. But with the growth of fat style bloggers what is flattering has changed.

I always thought I shouldn’t wear anything that made my most unflattering features seem bigger than they were. That included my thick jiggly arms and my round belly.

Even now, that I consider myself confident I think twice before wearing certain clothes because it wouldn’t help me fake an hourglass shape. But why? Why do we have to resemble hourglass bodies to be fashionable? My goal is to be as stylish not flattering.

I recently went shopping at Times Square’s Forever21 and found this top. It was everything I shouldn’t be wearing. It would make me look wider and would emphasize my arms.

Without thinking twice I purchased the top that would make my arms look wider and wore it with a denim skirt that would give me a very visible belly outline. It was everything that I shouldn’t be wearing.

After putting the look on I knew I was wearing one of my favorite outfits so far this summer. To think that I would have not worn it because others think it was unflattering is frustrating. I wore it all day and no one died nor did I lose value as a person for wearing “unflattering” clothes.

Fashion over fear always!

I chopped off my hair so I could stop hiding behind it

As a Latina and as a plus-size woman I have always been told that my hair is one of the things that made me attractive. I have been told that cutting my hair would make me look fatter. Because being fat is the worse thing that you can be.

I’ve had long hair most of my adult life. I constantly receive compliments on how beautiful it is and how cutting it would be the worse thing I could do.

My hair had become a safety blanket. On the days that I don’t feel good about myself I would hide behind it. But, I believe that to grow as a person you have to step out of your comfort zone. So, I chopped it off.

This isn’t the first time I cut my hair but it is definitely the shortest I have ever had it, at least since elementary school.

Cutting my hair is a reminder that my beauty is not set by standards society has dropped on us but by how I feel about myself and what makes me happy.

Chopping off my hair always feels like a big middle finger to society.

If you are planning on chopping it off do it. Take control over your body and self-love.

Yes, you should go to prom even if you’re fat

It’s been 9 years since prom of ’08 happened and I still regret not going. I was so afraid and embarrassed about my body that I missed out on what could have been such a fun and memorable night.

I wasn’t always comfortable with my body. Before the days of posing in bathing suits and sexy lingerie, I hated the way I looked.

I dedicated a lot of my time to weight loss. Certain diets worked but I was never skinny enough.  I spent so much time trying to reach my “weight goal” that I was missing out on life.

When I was younger I used to dream about the day I would finally be thin. I thought my problems would be magically solved.

giphy (4)

I thought I would finally be brave enough to talk to cute guys and that high school would run so much smoother.

In the meantime, I made sure I was invisible. I dressed in baggy shirts and I was extremely awkward when I spoke to people.

Screen Shot 2017-05-07 at 4.19.32 PM.png

I am such a silly and outgoing person but my friends in High School never saw that side of me.

That meant that I missed out on a lot. I didn’t go to prom because I was so afraid to have eyes on me.

Screen Shot 2017-05-07 at 4.10.28 PM.png

Prom was the night all teenage girls were meant to feel like real life princesses. I would hear my friends talk about what they were going to wear and who they were going with.

I stood on the sideline wishing I would’ve allowed myself to be part of such an important night.

giphy (6).gif

I remember my homeroom teacher insisting I go. Even the night before she offered to buy me a dress. I kindly declined even though I really wanted to go. I remember thinking that my skinny friends would look like the girls in the movies and I wouldn’t. I didn’t know that you could be fat and still look fierce.

I will never have prom night again and that is something that I will have to live with forever.

I realized that it’s not about what you wear or what size you are. Everyone deserves to experience life.

Screen Shot 2017-05-07 at 4.46.17 PM

We shouldn’t let our fears stop us from living. There are so many things that we won’t be able to get back. It does not matter what size you are, you are allowed to live and experience life like everyone else. Don’t let your fears and insecurities stop you from living and experiencing life.

Here are some dresses you should consider:

This amazing turtleneck reminded me why I shouldn’t hate my double chin

Screen Shot 2017-05-19 at 9.15.51 AM

Fashion has been the best tool of rebellion against society and it’s beauty standards. I was constantly told to avoid wearing color, crop top or just anything that didn’t make me blend into a wall. My blog helped me overcome so many internal obstacles. I wore my first crop top, my first skirt and my first bathing suit too.

You would think that after 5 years of blogging my outfits and pushing myself out of my comfort zone that I would be the most confident person, but it is isn’t always like that.

I recently have been feeling extra self-conscious about my double chin.

When I was shooting this look all I could see was my double chin. I remember pulling it higher trying to hide it.

Then I started to use my long hair to cover it.

Whenever I realize that I’m being negative about my body I remind myself that my style nor my value is halted by the shape of my body.

6 Outfits Every Girl Needs For Travel

As much as I love traveling I hate overpacking especially if it’s for a small vacation. I have been lucky enough to travel quite a bit now and I think I figured out the essential outfits needed to avoid overpacking.

Catherines recently invited me to Savannah for a quick getaway with two of my friends, Jezra and Jennifer. This was my time to try and pack like a genius.

Once we arrived at Savannah we were greeted with an amazing view. The Wedding Cake Mansion was our home for the next few days.

I immediately ran to my room and boy, was I shook!

Screen Shot 2017-05-10 at 9.09.18 PM

The room was just screaming for a photo shoot. That meant the trip officially began. It was time to put my outfits to the test.

1.  The multipurpose jumpsuit.JESSICA_12.jpg

You can plan as much as you want for a trip but, part of the fun are the unexpected activities you do last minute. I packed this versatile jumpsuit and dressed them up with some black heels. I can definitely see myself wearing this with a pair of flats or even sneakers.

Curvy Collection Runway Jumpsuit, $89.

Once we settled in the girls and I couldn’t wait to play dress-up and be the luxury southern belles we were born to be.

Have you ever seen a more photogenic house?

GROUP_26 (1).jpg

Even the outside of the house was screaming for a photo shoot.

2. Stretchy pants.

As much as I love wearing dresses and skirts I always make sure to pack a pair of pants for the most active days. This way I know I will be comfortable to do the activities I please without being afraid of feeling restricted.

San Jacinto blouse, / Cool and Easy Capri, $45 / Good Soles Peep Toe Heel, $59

3. Instagram ready PJ’S.

GROUP_1 (1).jpg

Chilling in your house after a fun day doesn’t mean you have to look basic. My girls and I wore the cutest and brightest jammies and just chilled.

4. Sexy lingerie.

If your girls don’t take pictures of you in your underwear are they really your girls? Also, I’m single AF and I should at least let them see me in my underwear.

Superior Support Bra, $46 / Microfiber Full Brief $20

Who knew this would turn out to be my favorite look?JESSICA_10.jpg

5. A printed dress.jessica1_0001

This may seem silly but a printed dress is essential if you are messy. I like to wear this one on the days I know I will be out all day. If I spill something on it I can still take pics for IG and I don’t have to worry about going back home to change. It’s harder to see a stain in a crazy print dress. #TipsForMessyGirls

Soulmate belted dress, $73.99

After learning that we would be making our own dinner with a special chef I knew I made the right choice by packing this dress. #Winning.

6. The airport outfit.

JESSICA_2 (1).jpg

My outfits for my plane rides are crucial. Nothing makes me more grumpy than being sitting down for hours in an uncomfortable plane seat and outfit. Whether you travel for an hour or 12 you want to make sure you are comfortable. I usually wear leggings but the pj’s from Catherine’s was so comfy I decided to wear it as a dress. I sexed it up a bit with a cute choker.

Bella sleep chemise, $54.

Rhinestone choker, $16

I tried to wear Victoria Beckham’s collection but it didn’t fit

As a 90’s baby, I was more than excited when I heard about the Victoria Beckham X Target collaboration. I always struggled between being Posh or Sporty spice and I thought this would help me find my true inner spice girl.

Screen Shot 2017-05-07 at 12.29.23 PM.pngPicture:

After seeing the lookbook I wasn’t sold on it. The models and styling on the site didn’t do it for me.

It wasn’t until I saw Nicolette Mason try on the black and white tulip skirt on her IG story that I was convinced about the collection. I made a huge order and waited patiently for my package to arrive.

And waited, and waited some more.

giphy (1).gif

My package was officially over one month late. I had already seen my friends slay in these outfits. I contacted Target and notified them that my order was late and they re-sent my order.

After waiting over a month to receive my package I tried item after item and nothing seemed to fit me right.

giphy (2)

But all of a sudden I saw an orange floral light at the end of the tunnel.

These were the only two items that actually fit me out of my entire $300 purchase. I was wearing both items in a 3X and the fit wasn’t great. The skirt was too big I felt like I  was literally hula hooping while walking around in it.

The orange floral print gave me this 70’s/90’s vibes and I went for it.JessMay3_3.png

I added my new favorite sunglasses as the cherry on top.

  • The #VBXTARGET collection was pretty for spring and summer.
  • I had a really hard time getting consistency within the collection. Certain items that were a 3X were too big and others were too small.
  • Keep in mind that the cut of most of the clothes were not made for apple/pear shapes but for people who have a straight figure.
